Julie was in Europe for a business trip again last week. She spent the week in the U.K., had a free weekend, and then had a meeting in Torino, Italy. As I never pass up an opportunity to head to Italy, we decided that I would fly in and meet her in Torino. Tickets were too expensive for all of to go, so dan spent the weekend home with the boys. I flew into Torino on Friday and was only staying until Sunday. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled when my luggage didn't arrive when I did! Luckily, my suitcase showed up Saturday morning, so I was able to put on fresh clothes and deoderant before Julie and I took the train to Milan for the day.
I have traveled to Milan before, but it was only a day trip about 6 years ago. I was unable to get tickets into daVinci's "The Last Supper" then, and once again, I was not able to get tickets. One day I WILL see that frescoe up close! Julie and I did enjoy exploring the Duomo.

Before our "climb" to the top, we decided to stop for lunch. Julie loves having her picture taken while she is eating...she is about the only person I know who does that! I have to say, the pizza was very good and my panini was great!

The best thing about the duomo in Milan is that you can climb up to the roof top (ok, you actually take an elevator most of the way and then climb only a few stairs to the top). It is pretty cool up on the roof and you get a unique view of the duomo.

After a longs day in Milan, we headed back to Torino. I was still recovering from the flu and Juie had just finished a long work week. We were both tired and couldn't keep going. We spent Sunday doing a little expolring of the "old town" area of Torino, the tourist area of the city.

We both read that the Egyptian Museum in Torino was something to see, so we made that our must see for the day. I have to say, the exhibit was amazing! The literature says that is is the largest collection outside of Ciaro. I couldn't believe what we saw...and what Julie touched! LOL! Almost each ancient Egyptian treasure we saw was touched by Julie. I thought we would certainly get thrown out! The pictures I'm including here are a few of the many I took. They definatley do not do justice to the items we saw.

Julie tells me she may have another seminar in the U.K. to attend this summer...I am looking forward to her next trip out here!
