Il dolce non fare niente....

We spent a week on Italy's Amalfi Coast. We made the town of Praiano our home as we explored Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. It was pure heaven! I have to say, it is not easy to get there. We flew into Naples, which is the dirtiest place I have ever been. The city of Naples is having a problem with trash collecting, and as a result, there are mounds of trash piled alongside the road...at lest six months worth. It looks and smells awful! I feel very bad for the people who live there. Once we were out of Naples and on the winding street that lead through the Amalfi Coast, you realize you are entering paradise.

We stayed at a the Hotel Onda Verde (http://www.hotelondaverde.com/). It translates to "green wave". I stayed there many years ago with my parents (Dan was not with us due to a deployment). The hotel has since gone through a renovation and I have to say, it was worth every Euro we spent! The staff were helpful and very kind. We had a half-board package, which means we had breakfast and dinner included everyday. I was worried at first, wondering if the menu would be the same night after night. I was pleasantly surprised that the menu choices changed each day. We saw them making the pasta in the morning and knew it would be wonderful that night. There was delicious fresh fish each night and aways a meat option as well. The kids even enjoyed it. Ethan's favorite was "dolce del giorno".... "Hmmm, what's that" he'd ask. Dan would laugh and reply "its dessert of the day". As if on cue, Ethan would reply "Yum, I'll have that!" He never wanted to know what it was and looked forward to his surprise "dessert of the day!

Here are a few pictures of our drive (once we were out of Naples):

Our terrace table...we ate here each night. The view was beautiful.

Some family photos on the terrace.

There was a small rock beach within walking distance of our hotel. It is actually in another town, Praia...but was only a two minute walk from the hotel. It took a day for us to get use to walking on the rocks, but the boys soon fell in love with our little beach.
